Clarkesville was settled in the 1870s by freed slaves and is one of the most historic areas of Austin. Many of the homes are listed on the National Register of Historic Places. University of Texas

The University of Texas community is composed predominantly of faculty, staff, and students of the university, and is conveniently located just north of Downtown Austin. Crestview is a great little area along the thriving and hip Burnet Road area. There is a collection of great local boutique shops like Spring Frost and Top Drawer Thrift. There are also some popular eateries like The Peached Tortilla, Barley Swine, and Baod Up.


This area is a traditional, friendly neighborhood featuring quiet streets lined with Live Oaks and updated homes from the mid-century. Burnet Road is in close proximity to its shops and restaurants, and the area is next to Mopac (Loop 1). A few well-known local eateries include Fonda San Miguel, Brentwood Social House, and Phil's Ice House. Many locals gather at Sheffield Park with its pool, duck pond, and sports courts. Allandale is one of the best Austin neighborhoods to find mid-century design homes. While the inventory of Allandale homes for sale is comparatively large for developments of this age (more than 1000 residences), demand is still high.
